About the product
This bag is special, it is a one of a kind product you are holding in your hands. The fabric is a blend of 50 % post-consumer textile waste which we, TEXAID, have collected in Germany and Switzerland. White cotton textiles which cannot be worn, have been sorted out in our sorting facility in Apolda, Germany. The other 50 % is ocean-bound plastic waste which is plastic with a high risk of entering the ocean and have been saved and recycled by Unifi . The bag has been produced in Italy. The cotton material has been processed to a fiber by Marchi & Fildi in Biella, IT, who then spun the recycled cotton and recycled polyester fibers into a yarn. This yarn has been woven into a fabric by Tessitura Casoni.T.F.C The care label and flag label have been produced by the German company Bornemann-Etiketten GmbH and an NFC Chip from circular.fashion has been integrated into the product. All components have then been sewn together into this bag in Tuscany by the social cooperation Alisea at the partner operation Paimex SRL, they have as well screen printed the custom design onto this bag. Through this European supply chain, working with leading companies emphasizing sustainable production and the use of recycled fiber, many resources have been saved. After conducting a Higg MSI and product assessment of the bag where we benchmarked it to a bag using conventional fibers and production methods, it shows that we could reduce the environmental impact by 70 percent. We could reduce global warming impact by 41 %, reduce resource depletion by 49 %, and prevent 36% of chemicals to be used. Please take care of this bag and use it with pride. Once you no longer wish to use the bag, you can refurbish it. You can cut out the print, frame it, and put it up as art.Or you can recycle the bag and use TEXAID´s take-back service called PACKMEE, where you can send used clothing or textiles per parcel from your home and get a voucher. If the donated bag is in good condition to be reused, we will enable it's further use and if the bag needs to be recycled, we will also ensure that this happens in an environmentally friendly way.
